With the POV in mind, the next step was to find actual solutions to our problem – we had to find a way to fulfill the need of our persona. We used group brainstorming to come up with as many ideas as we could over a very short period of time. It was a very stressful process.
With post-its in our hands and the POV on top of a big piece of paper, we began to put our ideas on the wall for the world to see. We did not set any rules, which created problems in the beginning. None of us had really participated in this kind of brainstorming before. We shouted over each others heads and some of the ideas were put on the board twice. After a while though, we calmed down and reached a fair system: Only one person at the time would put an idea on the board, and he or she would explain the idea to the rest of the group. In this way, we did not get any duplicates, and everyone became aware of the ideas on the board.
We ended up with various ideas: monthly workshops, a special seating area in the Telenor stores for elderly, extra hot-line for elderly, tutorials, special offers, workshops in elderly homes, workshops for the family on how to explain the new technology, and many more.
When it came to the decisive moment to kill some of our 'babies', I must say that I was proud of our group. We did not struggle as much as we thought we would. Something in our brains connected and we found the same links between ideas. It was more consensus and having everybody on the same wavelength that helped us decide which idea was the best and how we could combine it with the other ones. We ended up combining quite a few of them together – offering a special package with introduction material and a professional that the elderly people can call – the Telenor superhero – that can come into their home.
